StoneGuard® is a patented, multi‑layer protective film for marble and other natural‑stone countertops. StoneGuard helps protect against everyday etching and stains so you can enjoy your kitchen without babying the slab. Below, you’ll find everything that matters about StoneGuard, what it is, how StoneGuard works, the differences between StoneGuard Clear and StoneGuard Satin, day‑to‑day care, warranty basics, and concise StoneGuard FAQs.

What is StoneGuard?
StoneGuard is a replaceable, nearly invisible barrier engineered specifically for marble and other natural stone surfaces. Unlike liquid sealers, StoneGuard is a 5‑mil (approx.) film with a nano‑coated top layer that takes the brunt of wear. The result: StoneGuard helps resist common kitchen acids and dyes, and it can be replaced when worn.
Why StoneGuard matters for natural stone countertops
Marble and other calcite‑based stones are prone to dull “etch” marks and stains from acidic spills. StoneGuard creates a physical shield over the stone surface, helping keep those everyday messes on the film and not in your stone. This makes cleanups simpler and worry free.
StoneGuard variants: StoneGuard Clear vs StoneGuard Satin
StoneGuard Clear (for polished finishes): High gloss finished that preserves that glossy look.
StoneGuard Satin (for honed/matte finishes): Low sheen surface that preserves a honed aesthetic.
How StoneGuard works (materials & construction)

Base film: Ultra‑clear polyethylene engineered for durability on stone.
Adhesive: Optically clear, gas‑permeable acrylic adhesive formulated so the stone can naturally outgas while StoneGuard blocks liquids.
Topcoat: ShieldX™ nano coating engineered for chemical and heat tolerance to protect the underlying stone.
Thickness: StoneGuard is approximately 5 mils thick, substantial enough to protect but thin enough to stay discreet.
StoneGuard performance: etch, stain, UV, and scratch resistance

StoneGuard is etch & stain proof: Designed to help resist household acids and dyes (think white vinegar, coffee, citrus, red wine, tomato). StoneGuard is the sacrificial layer and can be replaced if worn.
StoneGuard has UV support: Built‑in UVA/UVB inhibitors to support near‑window installations.
StoneGuard scratch & impact: The StoneGuard topcoat is scratch‑resistant but not knife proof and we always recommend using a cutting boards.
StoneGuard permeability design: The StoneGuard surface blocks liquids; the adhesive lets stone breathe to reduce risks like trapped moisture.
StoneGuard heat guidance (use & care)
Natural stone can suffer thermal shock from oven‑hot items. StoneGuard is engineered for heat tolerance, but best practice still apply and we recommend to use trivets or hot pads under hot cookware when temperatures reach that upper limit of 420°F.
StoneGuard maintenance & daily care
Clean StoneGuard with with our recommend cleaners or a pH‑neutral, stone‑safe cleaner and a clean microfiber towel and dry after cleaning to reduce spotting.
Avoid abrasives (pads/powders), harsh acids, and knives directly on the StoneGuard surface.
For stubborn residues on StoneGuard, use an approved StoneGuard cleaner/surfactant.
StoneGuard edges & sidewall limitation:
StoneGuard is relatively rigid and typically does not wrap over edges or side walls. Spills that land on exposed edges can wick underneath protected areas. Wipe spills promptly; this edge‑wicking scenario is not covered by the warranty.
StoneGuard vs. sealers and look‑alike films
Not a sealer: Sealers are liquid products that require periodic reapplication and offer limited acid protection. StoneGuard is a physical film barrier.
Not automotive PPF or window film: StoneGuard is engineered specifically for marble and natural stone. Re‑purposed films may seal pores or behave unpredictably on stone.
Patented: StoneGuard technology and its use on marble/stone are protected by patent.
